A Wedding at Buccelletti Casali & Cantina, Tuscany: Maddy & Sam's Italian Celebration

Maddy and Sam came from America to get married in the Tuscan countryside, at Buccelletti Casali & Cantina near Castiglion Fiorentino, a small hilltop town between Arezzo and Cortona. Some couples choose a place, and some places seem to choose them - from the very first evening it was clear that this quiet corner of Tuscany fit the two of them perfectly.

Pizza Night in Castiglion Fiorentino

The celebrations began the evening before the wedding, with pizza. Family and friends who had traveled from overseas gathered around the table, and the mood was exactly what a welcome dinner should be: loud, warm and completely relaxed. Afterwards we slipped away with Maddy and Sam for a couple session through the streets of Castiglion Fiorentino. Old stone walls, narrow alleys and soft evening light - the town gave us everything, and the two of them simply had to walk through it, hand in hand.

The Wedding Day

The morning at Buccelletti had that quiet hum we love to photograph. Getting ready on both sides of the estate, a glass of prosecco here, a nervous laugh there, dresses hanging in soft light - small moments that tell you what kind of day it is going to be.

In the afternoon, Maddy and Sam exchanged their vows in front of everyone they love. These are the minutes we try to photograph as invisibly as possible - nothing posed, nothing repeated, just what happened. Afterwards the celebration spilled out onto the grounds of the estate, with an aperitivo in the softest light of the day.

As the sun went down, dinner was served - long tables, toasts and that particular mix of happy and emotional that only wedding speeches manage. Then Maddy and Sam opened the dance floor with their first dance, and from that moment on the night belonged to everyone.

We documented the entire wedding as a photo reportage, working with digital and analog film alongside Super 8 and video. The mix is what we love: digital for the moments that cannot be missed, film for its tones and texture, Super 8 for the feeling of a memory while it is still happening.

Looking through the final images now, it is the ease between Maddy, Sam and their people that comes through in every frame.
