Wedding Photographer in Puglia
Documentary photography and film for weddings among masserie, olive groves and white stone towns.
Puglia doesn't perform for the camera. It is a region of whitewashed walls, ancient olive groves and long tables set outside until well after midnight, and the best photographs here come from letting the day unfold at its own pace.
Lukas Baer photographs and films weddings across Puglia. The masserie of the Valle d'Itria, fortified farmhouses surrounded by centuries-old olive trees. The baroque streets of Lecce, built from a soft limestone that turns honey-coloured in the evening. The cliffs of Polignano a Mare, the white maze of Ostuni, the trulli around Alberobello and Locorotondo, and the quieter coastline of the Salento further south.
The approach is documentary. Nothing is staged that wouldn't happen anyway. Puglia rewards this: the light is hard at noon and extraordinarily soft in the last two hours before sunset, which is why most ceremonies here begin late in the afternoon and dinners move outdoors as the heat fades. The work follows that rhythm, from getting ready in the morning to the last dance under the stars.
Every wedding can be documented in photography, film, or both, on digital as well as analog film and Super 8. Multi-day celebrations are common in Puglia: a welcome dinner in a masseria courtyard, the wedding day itself, a slow brunch the morning after. Each part tells a different story, and each is worth keeping.
For couples travelling from abroad, Puglia is easy to reach through the airports of Bari and Brindisi, with most venues within an hour's drive. The main season runs from May to October. June and September offer the best balance of light, temperature and atmosphere; July and August are hot, and evenings become the heart of the day.
If you are planning a wedding in Puglia, whether your masseria is already booked or the search has just begun, an early conversation helps. Peak dates book twelve to eighteen months ahead.
All of Puglia, from Bari and Monopoli through the Valle d'Itria with Ostuni, Locorotondo and Alberobello, down to Lecce and the Salento. Travel within the region is included in every collection.

All of Italy. Tuscany, Lake Como, Lake Garda, the Amalfi Coast, Venice, Rome, Puglia, Sicily, and beyond. There's no single base. The work goes where the wedding is. Tuscany, though, holds a particular place—the light there does something the rest of the country rarely matches.

Most peak season dates, May through October in Italy, book twelve to eighteen months ahead. Reaching out early is always worthwhile, even if the details of the wedding aren't finalised yet.
-
The person who corresponds with you before the wedding is the one photographing it. For most weddings, a second shooter is recommended — a second perspective catches what one camera can't. When additional services come together, highlight video, analog photography, Super 8 — it moves from recommended to essential. Trusted collaborators, always discussed and agreed on in advance.

Always. I will be there myself on your wedding day. For larger productions where full parallel coverage makes sense, I bring in trusted collaborators I have worked with closely over the years. The visual approach and the level of care stay the same regardless.
